Stallone’s Rambo 5 could be shot in Bulgaria

16:03 Tue 25 Mar 2008 - Elitsa Savova

The internet rumour mill has it that the fifth film about the mentally unstable Vietnam war vet John Rambo, who is capable of killing the whole cast of the film, but somehow is always the good guy, would be shot in Bulgaria.

Given that there is only one company in Bulgaria that shoots films for Hollywood, Nu Boyana studio, owned by Los Angeles-based Nu Image, The Sofia Echo contacted the company to see whether there was any substance to the speculation.

Dessislava Petrova, Nu Boyana spokesperson, told The Sofia Echo that the reports are "just rumours" at this stage.

Nu Image had signed a contract with Sylvester Stallone for Rambo 5, but it was still unknown where the film would be shot, Petrova said. It was much too early to predict given that even the script hasn’t been written yet, she added.

Stallone has recently returned to his most successful two acts, directing and starring in the sixth instalment in the Rocky Balboa series and a fourth Rambo movie over the past two years.

Multimedia Bulgaria on CNN

19:29 Tue 11 Mar 2008 - Elitsa Savova

CNN International will include Bulgaria in its Sights & Sounds online and TV advertising campaign as it seeks to build on the existing Bulgarian tourism TV advertising campaign on the channel, the broadcaster said in a statement.

Bulgaria tourism’s Sights & Sounds campaign was launched live to a global audience via CNN’s television feed for the Europe, Middle East and Africa region, as well as its international website, cnn.com/international, on March 10.

The TV elements are built around the mottos, “Bulgaria - Nature welcomes you” and “Bulgaria - Enjoy your choice”, while the online magazine www.sightsandsounds.tv/bulgaria contains streamed video highlighting areas of interest for tourists, information on arts and culture, weather news and high resolution maps and images, the statement read.

Bulgarians State Agency for Tourism deputy head Stanislav Novakov said that the agency was “proud to be working with CNN International for a second consecutive year (…) via CNN’s multiple platforms, the global audience will be able take a virtual tour of our beautiful country and make the right choice to come and discover the homeland of the mythical singer Orpheus and the legendary Spartacus, the land of the oldest gold craft in the world, with 14 centuries of cultural and historical heritage, a land of preserved traditions, customs and hospitality.”

According to Rani R. Raad, senior vice-president for CNN International advertising sales, the Sights & Sounds solution provides clients with a powerful, cross-platform tool to reach the international audience. “At CNN, we’ve worked hard to translate our knowledge of the tourism advertising space into tailored, effective media campaigns for our clients and we are delighted that Bulgaria Tourism has chosen to continue advertising with us,” he said.
